JDR Factory Opening – a massive success!

JDR Factory Opening

She’s Gott It! Events were appointed to deliver the opening of the new JDR Factory in Newcastle upon Tyne on Friday 7th July 2017. We were delighted when we were approached by JDR to deliver this exciting event as we had worked with them previously, delivering the hugely successful ‘JDR Schools Visits’ event in Hartlepool.

Subsea power cable supplier JDR has opened a new 4,000m2 service facility in Newcastle, creating ten new jobs in the short term with more planned for the near future.

The multi-purpose centre, which will serve as the firm’s European service base, was officially opened by Nick Brown, MP for Newcastle upon Tyne East, on Friday 7th July 2017.

JDR’s new base includes a workshop, warehouse and visitor centre as well as offices to house the business’ sales and marketing functions.

Richard Turner, company COO, explained that the site’s location was strategically selected for its proximity to projects in the North Sea and Europe, the firm’s manufacturing facility in Hartlepool and the local supply chain.

Richard said: “With this new centre we can now offer our clients a wider range of services and state-of-the art technical support for onshore and offshore activities.

“Ultimately, this allows us to grow as a company and enables us to deliver an even higher quality of service to our customers.”

Jake Berry, Minister for the Northern Powerhouse, added: “It’s great to see this further expansion of JDR. This facility will have an initial workforce of 20, including 10 new jobs, and plans to expand to 50 in the future.

“As the inaugural winner of the Northern Powerhouse Exports Award last year, the company highlights the best of the Northern Powerhouse. They make effective use of key northern assets in energy, innovation, access to international markets and a skilled workforce.”
